Nike Air Max Light “Turbo Green”

nike air max light turbo green Nike Air Max Light Turbo Green

The Nike Air Max Light has been recently liberated from the clutches of Size? with some rather exciting inline colorways that end up very close to their AM1 brethren (Not that we’re hoping that Size? calls it quits respect to their SMUs). This pair gets a little bit more daring with its combination of turbo green and iron ore, two shades that we can’t remember ever seeing before on the same pair of Lights. If you like what you see here, check in after the break for another look and stay tuned for updates on the Nike Air Max Light for 2014.

And while the Gato has been given individual country treatments ranging from the likes of France to even Holland, the Tiempo has remained anonymous in its country affiliations. But is this latest “Gradient” version a nod to the ’94 USA squad’s uniforms? With a red and navy each fading into the middle white panel, this rather patriotic colorway could be. Yesterday we did a feature on the Nike Kobe 9 EM “Philippines”; today we follow up on that article with the story behind the basketball sneaker. What we failed to mention in our previous post is the influence of the “barangay courts” – that is where Filipinos from all over come together and celebrate their love of the game. The painted courts serve as the focal point of the design. Scroll down to see how the idea of the Nike Kobe 9 EM “Philippines” came together, and check back with Sneakerfiles for information regarding the release date here in the U.S.

Nike Football’s Innovation Showcase Unveils Its Latest Innovations Ahead of the 2014 World Cup

In roughly a month’s time, much of the world will tune in to watch the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The global phenomenon of football has made way for some of the most hotly contested sporting events and experiences bar none. While 32 countries will wear a kit bearing their nation’s crest, the World Cup will also serve as the battleground for the latest in equipment innovation. Over the course of two days in Madrid, Nike introduced and highlighted some of the important pieces of the footballing puzzle both for this summer and the upcoming year as part of its 2014 Football Innovation Showcase.

Innovation and National Pride

Beginning with the first day, World Cup kits from the 10 teams sponsored by Nike (the most of any sponsor) were on display, providing an initial context to the forthcoming collections and technical innovations. A long series of rooms were each subdivided to highlight individual product collections. Capsules inclusive of host nation Brazil (featuring both its own inspired Air Jordan 6 and FuelBand), England, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United States, and more made way for the latest ball development, the Ordem. Along the way, various installation pieces provided a stark reminder of Nike’s highly considered approach to visual communication including a piece derived from Nike’s latest signature boot, the Magista.
Despite the opportunity to see some of Nike’s football footwear up close and personal, new pieces were also unveiled that followed a path not traditionally steeped in heavy innovation. A leather bag, flexing the full 3D printing capabilities of Nike foreshadowed what is inevitably on the horizon. The weave on the bottom, while visually captivating is also environmentally friendly. Look for it on the shoulders of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Junior and Wayne Rooney this summer.

Performance to Lifestyle

“Nike’s penchant for lifestyle was thoroughly reinforced with a space dedicated to its Nike FC concept.”

A development quite easy to overlook was that of the Mercurial Flylite shin guards. The archaic foam-molded plastic guard is something that has been largely unchanged aside from the odd home custom-molded versions. Utilizing a transparent construction with a dynamic webbing, the guard is both lightweight and overcomes the traditional stuffy experience associated with regular guards.
As the gauntlet of product drew to a close in the last remaining room, Nike’s penchant for lifestyle was thoroughly reinforced with a space dedicated to its Nike FC concept. While few doubt the innovation of Nike as a sportswear brand, it’s often their athletes that help drive and inspire the need to be better every step of the way. For a first season and with the help of OG Ronaldo, Canavarro and Figo, the Nike FC collection brought forth perhaps overly simplistic logo-driven motifs, but select pieces including jackets and iterations of the N98 track top signaled where the label plans to go.

Unveiling the Nike Mercurial Superfly IV

The first day’s events served as an appetizer for the main event on the following day, the unveiling of the new Nike Mercurial Superfly IV with football’s newly crowned FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. While many reactions and those of the interview questions overheard were largely comparing the new boot to the recently presented Magista, the differences are certainly there. Created as a speed boot and for those relentless in attack in a much faster modern game, the aesthetics are undeniably similar but the premise and construction provide subtle nuances that should translate on the pitch. From what we gather, the Dynamic Collar and Flyknit have effectively entered Nike’s new football boot lexicon of design and may lead the way for a new standard in boots.
Moments before the unveiling of the Mercurial Superfly IV, Mark Parker unveiled a trademark piece of Nike marketing with an entertaining four-minute piece, “Winner Stays.” Bringing together some of Nike’s most accomplished footballers, the short movie will certainly whet the appetite of both casual and diehard fans globally. When Luka Modrić steps on the pitch against fellow La Liga compatriot Neymar Junior at Arena de Sao Paulo on June 12, 2014, four years of design and execution will be put on display for the world to see.

Nike Air Raid – Metallic Gold – White

nike air raid metallic gold Nike Air Raid Metallic Gold White

Despite its tough as nails build and aura, the Nike Air Raid wasn’t without its colorful releases during its original run – the “Peace” pair from the sequel sort of epitomizing that. With that being said, we can’t ever remember them getting quite this bright. The pair here has a very regal feel to it thanks to the metallic gold touches that grip the shoe everywhere from the upper, to the outsole, to those speckles across the midsole. Take another look at this new Nike Air Raid creation with us after the click and watch for a release date on them right here at Sneaker News.

Nike Roshe Run “Versace” Customs by Sole 4 The Soul

nike-roshe-run-versace-customs-by-sole-4-the-soul

The integration of high end fashion lines and streetwear is at an all time high, in recent years. With luxury being the dominate trend in urban fashion right now, we’re seeing an increasing amount of late 90′s, Versace-inspired products, the most noticable being the Supreme x Nike Air Foamposites. Notice the yellow-gold decoration on the Supreme kicks are similar to the patterns that covered botton-down shirts worn by some of hip hop’s greatest, like Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Sneaker artist, Sole 4 The Soul, has decided to keep the royally influenced theme alive with a new spin on the trend.

The Nike Roshe Run “Versace” customs by Sole 4 The Soul have a color blocking scheme with mint, blue and yellow arriving on the uppers and a white midsole. The midfoot panels are covered entirely in a mint green, while the toes see some more action with a black leopard print on top of a royal blue mesh base. Classic Versace-inspired detailing adorns the Nike Swoosh on the side, complimenting the mint green nicely. For some extra unique points, a visual of an oasis screens it’s way across the rear paneling. The brightness that the clean white midsole adds to these shoes make them the perfect pick-up for summer!

What’re your thoughts on these “Versace” customs? If you want some more info on these, head over to Sole 4 The Soul’s online store now! More pictures below!

Intersection of Toulouse and Royal, New Orleans, Louisiana

**any description info below is not from dontquestionkings but from the poster of the image online**

Intersection of Toulouse and Royal, New Orleans, Louisiana
street art

Royal Street is a street in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is one of the oldest streets in the city, dating from the French Colonial era, and is most well-known for the antique shops, art galleries, and stately hotels that line its sides as it runs through New Orleans’ French Quarter and tourist district.

The street starts at Canal Street (above Canal Street the equivalent street becomes Uptown New Orleans’ St. Charles Avenue). It runs down through the French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny, Bywater, and Lower 9th Ward neighborhoods to the Jackson Barracks at the border of St. Bernard Parish. The Industrial Canal forms a gap in the street between the Bywater and Lower 9th Ward neighborhoods.

The most famous section of Royal street is the portion in the upper French Quarter, known for its scores of opulent antique shops and art galleries. Despite its orderly nature, it is located only one block south of the party atmosphere of Bourbon Street. The prices at its art shops and antique stores tend to be very high; indeed, it has been listed as one of the most expensive places to shop in the world. The finer antique shops display not simply items that are old, but such rare items as pieces of fine art furniture owned by royalty of past centuries. Although such pieces are out of the budget of all but a few visitors, window shopping along Royal Street is a popular pastime for visitors, especially art lovers, even if they are not buying.

Royal Street also includes restaurants, ranging from the upscale Brennan’s through midrange and budget options, as well as luxury hotels such as the Omni Royal Orleans and the Hotel Monteleone. Below Jackson Square, Royal becomes more of a mix of residential and neighborhood businesses.

Despite catastrophic damage in most of the city caused by the failure of the Federal levee system during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Royal Street was spared by the great flood other than the section in the Lower 9th Ward, as it is in the naturally higher ground near the Mississippi River levee. Flooding was only minor and restricted to the street while most sidewalks and stores remained free of floodwaters. During the aftermath of the storm most of the French Quarter was not significantly looted, and many of the antique shops remained untouched.
