While festive tones are indeed in demand this time of year, and Asics certainly has their share of themed collections, they also keep things simplistic with the likes of the latest GT-II. Far removed from red and green or even earthy fall tones, this monochromatic black and white pair denotes a synthetic and textured upper based in luxe aesthetic and a high level of comfort. Though subtle in nature, a strong sense of bravado engulfs the sneaker which ensures its wearability in a wide assortment of settings. Give them a look below and let us know what you think.

First is this all-red pair that actually calls back to the all-red affairs that Nike dipped in during that era of hoops, and an “Ultramarine” pair that needs to other description other than the fact that fans of anything vintage will love ‘em. Nike SB Dunk High “Concept Car”

nike sb dunk high black white concept car 2 Nike SB Dunk High Concept Car

The Nike SB Dunk is making a healthy comeback as of late, and most of it is due to the “retro” approach with the Diamond, Cali, De La Soul, and other early series-inspired releases that have either come our way or will be presented to us soon. Still, these random colorways manage to pop up to our surprise, and although the “Concept Car” moniker given to these by the skateshop that has stocked them is rather dubious, these SB Dunks are still worthy of your attention. As mentioned, these are available now at select shops, but we’ll let you know when these become a wider release.

BRONX NEWS: Advocate for the autistic

Don’t question her sanity; praise the dedication of Rosanne Small-Morgan of Hempstead, L.I., who decided write a book in addition to maintaining an online blog, writing a weekly newspaper column, holding down a full-time job — all while taking great care of her autistic son.

The St. Vincent-born mom’s “Situation Zane – Autism who Knew?” is her latest venture in an effort to gain needed respect for the families and individuals living with this disorder.

“People get really heavy with their books sometimes,” she said about some other publications on autism. “I intentionally made it an easy read,” she said of the book, published in September by the CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform.

“I wanted the parents to know they are not alone. We can help each other along this journey,” said Small-Morgan, who is a consumer advocate for an energy company. She gets continual help from her Jamaica-born husband, Chris, a senior computer systems engineer, who contributed to the book and is a steadfast advocate for his son and his disorder.

“He’s a big supporter of our son. In the book, he wrote a piece as well,”Small-Morgan said of her husband, noting that too often men abandon women with autistic children. “He (my husband) is very much a proponent of men sticking it out and supporting.”

And there’s more. The couple has joined with Jamaica-born Long Island-based pediatric psychiatrist Dr. Sophia Francis-Stewart of the Brookville, L.I.-based Fay J. Lindner Center for Autism and applied behavioral analysis therapists Ruth Allen and Ruykia Jeffers form the not-for-profit group “Autism, Who Knew?

“The objective is to educate, support and give services to people in the Latino, Caribbean and minority communities,” said Small-Morgan .

In addition to aiding families in the tri-state New York area, Small-Morgan said there are plans to take the “Autism, Who Knew?” organization on field trips to as many as six Caribbean nations next year to provide screening for children, early intervention information for families, and training and education for health care professionals, law enforcement officials and others.

Small-Morgan added that new group will be getting assistance from the respected organization Heartshare. “They (Heartshare) are going to be our big brother/guide to help serve the community.”

The “Situation Zane — Autism who Knew?” book is available at Createspace.com, Amazon, Barnes & Noble.com and other outlets. To reach Small-Morgan about the book or the new organization, send an email to rosietalkslife@gmail.com and visit her website and blog at rosietalkslife.com and her Facebook page at http://bit.ly/RosieTalksFB.

adidas zx flux mid nps black 1 adidas Originals ZX Flux NPS Mid in Two New Colorways

As if the adidas Originals ZX Flux wasn’t already a big enough hit, the Three Stripes ups the ante yet again, and in more ways than one. The ZX Flux NPS Mid is coming. And if this concept is still foreign to your brain (or ankles), it’ll all make sense when winter ensues. Introduced last week in a light grey scheme, the ZX Flux Mid already has two more colorways in store before the silhouette even has an official release date. Dropping in both black and navy (similar to the tonal drops from the recently released Tubular Runner), the mid cut frame differs from its low cut predecessor by way of a top strap and neoprene sockliner.
