Air Force 1s for yuppies? We’ve seen Bruce Kilgore’s classic styled after sandy shores before in the Nike Air Force 1 “Jones Beach” back in 2009, but now the shoe is going full blown Yacht Club. JFK Airport Employees Caught Stealing Nike KD 8 Shipment

Ahead of the official release of the Nike KD 8 – a shoe Nike deems one of its most technical sneakers to date – a pair of JFK Airport employees couldn’t hold out until the alleged July release. Calvin Colain Nelson, 23, and Audley Russell, 47, have been apprehended by local authorities for stealing 24 pairs of the eighth signature shoe of Kevin Durant.

A Taiwanese shipment that was headed to Canada was intercepted by Russell who then sold the 24 pairs to Nelson for a piece. The enterprising Nelson then uploaded all pairs to his Instagram account, @SNKR_BASE, selling all pairs somewhere in the range of 5-0. The Nike KD 8 is expect to retail for 0.

After the shipment was noticed as absent, authorities were alerted to the theft after Nelson uploaded not only images of shoes, but serial numbers and barcodes of each shoe to his IG. Both employees are being charged with theft and grand larceny. They were released on their own recognizance but if charged, could face upwards to four years in prison.

Nike Ranks As Most Valuable Apparel Brand in the World

Now in its tenth edition, Millard Brown recently published its most valuable global brand’s in the world list. To no surprise, tech giants align at the top of the rankings, with the likes of Apple, Google, Microsoft and IBM filling the top respectively. But as it pertains to appeal companies, sportswear juggernaut Nike is now the most valuable apparel brand in the world.

Now, this just doesn’t relate to footwear, or even athleticwear. Nike towers over brands like Louis Vuitton, ZARA, Hermés, Tommy Hilfiger and H&M – prominent fashion companies with a global presence and widely transcendent cultural reach. This shift is likely due in large part to the emergence of leisurely activewear and the resurgence of sophisticated sport – dressing up things like windbreakers, sweats, and the tailoring of said items to bring about a sartorial presence in casual garments.

With a brand valuation up 21% from 2014 to current times, Nike continues to impress with their all-encompassing consumer base – one that features all ages groups and unique distinctions in style preference.
