Sneaker Con Detroit August 2015 Event Recap

This past weekend, Sneaker Con rolled into the Motor City for the first time in the history of the event. Detroit’s legions of dedicated sneaker aficionados convened in Cobo Center to participate in their requisite buying, selling and trading, while also showing off the heat on their feet. Belying the historic bad blood between the Pistons and Bulls, there were plenty of Jordans on display, along with a sizable contingent of present day covetable kicks. Check out the full event recap in the following pages.

Apparently New York Mets Outfielder Michael Cuddyer Is A Sneakerhead

Every day, a new sneakerhead is revealed. Straight out of left field (in more ways than one) is former batting champion Michael Cuddyer, who has been one of the Mets’ hottest hitters since he returned from the DL. It turns out the “Cuddy” is a hoarder of Jordan Retros (his Instagram and other Mets players Instagram feeds reveals quite the sneaker rotation for the 36-year-old), and prior to tonight’s game against the Phillies, he was caught perusing the latest issue of KICKS magazine by photographer Gemini Keez. Check out some of Cuddyer’s kicks below and maybe he’ll make an appearance at an upcoming Sneaker Con!

Is This The UA Curry 2 Low?

ua-curry-two-low-surfaces

Under Armour and Steph Curry are still taking a victory lap after an incredible season together with the upcoming “Championship Pack”. But UA hasn’t been shy about previewing this season’s model, the UA Curry 2 throughout the summer. And if that wasn’t enough for you, then feast your eyes on what is (probably) the UA Curry 2 Low. The shoe won’t come out until at least January 2016, but we’re already seeing a first glimpse before teams have even reported to their respective training camps. The royal blue shade hints at a similar heel cage construction as the hightop while the UA logo moves from the ankle collar to the middle of the side panel. What do you think? Stay tuned for a better look in the near future right here on Sneaker News.

Nike Air Huarache Utility

Nike Air Huarache Utility

After releasing a slew of retro styles this past summer, Nike gives its iconic Air Huarache a fairly radical makeover to produce the Air Huarache Utility, set to hit store shelves in four introductory colorways. The build uses the signature hallmarks of the retro runner — including the neoprene collar and molded heel cage — updated with integrated Nike Flywire, seamless mesh toe and a rugged, high traction sole unit. Tonal white and black pairs are joined by two camo styles, all of which are set to hit stores in the near future. For now, the kicks are available through overseas retailers including atmos Tokyo.

Detroit Showed Out For Their First On-Feet Sneaker Con Recap

sneaker-con-detroit-on-feet-recap-august-2015

What is the best on-feet Sneaker Con to date? Cities like NYC and Los Angeles always bring the goods just based on the attendance at each show, but what about the Midwest? While Sneaker Con usually makes stops in Chicago and even Cleveland, Michigan’s own Detroit finally saw the world’s best traveling sneaker trade show arrive this past weekend. The latest Yeezy Boosts were on feet as were the old Nike Kanye standby. While we expected the Eminem x Air Jordan 4 to make some kind of appearance given the city, Detroit instead surprised us solely based on the eclectic nature of the on-feet wears. Be sure to check out the best sneakers found on-feet at Sneaker Con Detroit below and let us know your favorite pair in the comments section.

Get Ready For Iridescent ASICS GEL-Lyte III Releases

ASICS Tiger has revamped most of the classic running models from the Japanese brand to appear as formidable lifestyle wears, but none have been as eye-catching as this eclectic ASICS Gel Lyte III. The iridescent quality here is something we’ve seen other brands capitalize off of recently, and with an array of rainbow shades, it’s only right that ASICS dress the laces in a tie-dye display of rainbow shades to match. Gone are the numerous seams for that new-aged seamless construction while perforations are cut out to add breathability to the side panels (the toecap remains noticeably solid for a change of pace). Check out a full view below and stay tuned for more updates right here on Sneaker News.

Nike Running “Modern Gold Rush” Pack

Nike Running Modern Gold Rush Pack

Nike Running introduces the “Modern Gold Rush Pack,” featuring a trio of silhouettes collected as a paean to the Santa Monica runner. This athlete is laid back until he or she laces them up, meaning the one place you can count on to find this runner is at the finish line. Consequently, the warm colorways have accents that reflect both golden susnets and gold medals alike, used on both men’s and women’s versions of the Air Zoom Pegasus 32 MGR, Air Zoom Structure 18 MGR and LunarTempo MGR. The collection launches this Thursday, September 3rd, through Nike.com at 10 a.m. EDT.

Nike, Jordan Brand, Under Armour, and adidas Were All In The Same Room, And It Wasn’t Awkward

Nike, Under Armour, and adidas will always engage in a constant show of one-up-manship in innovations, athlete stories, and brand developments, but last week the big-three brands held a temporary cease-fire and came together to support young sneaker designers in the black community. Pensole Footwear Design Academy, in partnership with the BMe Community, held a special class for nineteen students, which was sponsored by Nike, Jordan Brand, adidas, Under Armour, and Keen, with each brand label providing housing for four of the students. Each group was responsible for designing a specific shoe for the brand, with final presentations being unveiled this past Friday night. Check out a photo gallery of the event below.

Sneaker Con Visits Another New City For The First Time

Sneaker Con rolled through the Motor City for the first time over the weekend to find Detroit’s finest sneakerheads in attendance hungry to buy, trade, and sell their favorite kicks. Despite the whole history of the Bad Boys Pistons squaring off against an upstart Bulls teams, the city has apparently shrugged off that three decade rivalry to rock some of the best Jordans we’ve seen in quite some time. And while there wasn’t any of that ultra rare Air Jordan 4 “Eminem” in attendance, something tells us the next time Sneaker Con arrives in Michigan, people in attendance will be rocking a different Air Jordan 4. Check out more of the latest Sneaker Con recap below.

The Perfect Nike LeBron 13 If LeBron James Stayed In Miami

LeBron James will cause a huge shift of power in the direction of…wherever he chooses to take his talents. When he left Miami earlier than expected and returned home to Cleveland, the Midwest suddenly became the epicenter of NBA media and culture and hues of wine and gold became a bit trendier while “South Beach” fizzled out. This black/red color-combo is certainly more Miami than it is The Land, so it’s almost a reminder of what the LeBron 13 would look like if the six-time NBA Finals visitor kept his talents in Florida. Get a look below and expect these to release on October 24th.
