BRONX NEWS: Five men arrested as cops probe report of Bronx gang-rape

Cops have arrested five men they say gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in a Bronx apartment then stole her cell phone, police said Wednesday.

The alleged attack took place about 3 p.m. Tuesday on Taylor Ave. near Archer St. in Van Nest, police sources said.

The teen told police she had met one of the five men on Monday and exchanged Facebook information.

On Tuesday, the teen went over to the man’s basement apartment, where he plied her with alcohol and marijuana, cops said.

Manhattan babysitter convicted of raping two children

The teen passed out. When she woke up the man was raping her, she told police. She passed out and woke up to another man attacking her, cops said.

Three other men were waiting in the wings, boasting they were next.

“There were three males not involved in the assault but were in the same room,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said Wednesday. “We are speaking with them now.”

The men ultimately let the teen go but not before stealing her phone, cops said.

Somali refugee who raped two Utah women released on probation

The teen had a second phone on her, which she used to call police. Medics took her to Jacobi Medical Center.

Based on the teen’s information, cops tracked down and arrested Airen Kellman, 23, and Touray Blackwood, 26. Both men have been charged with rape. Their arraignments were pending.

The three other men were charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Their names were not immediately released.

The NYPD Vice Squad is aiding in the investigation to see if the incident had anything to do with sex trafficking, police said.

Supreme Week 15 // Bangers, Sleepers & Duds

In Week 9 of this year’s fall/winter collection, ‘Preme heads received Part 1 of The North Face collaboration and many feared that the “Mountain” portion of the collab wouldn’t make the cut. Alas, after months of being teased by leaked images and rumors, Part 2 of the Supreme x The North Face collaboration that hypebeasts have hibernated for is finally upon us. The collection doesn’t offer a complete line of apparel but does include two jackets, a crewneck, short sleeve tees, hats and a blanket! So, enough with all the hoopla.

Let’s Get It!

Bangers

This week’s collaboration brings to life a mountain range that is similar to the design found on the “Steep Tech” Supreme x The North Face collab from spring/summer ’16.

Item pictured above is a PAST collaboration and WILL NOT be dropping this week… or ever again.

We can not confirm whether or not this was done on purpose but the resemblance of that mountain to the mountain featured in this collection is uncanny, and we know that Supreme doesn’t do things by accident.

The Mountian Crewneck Sweatshirt is a heavy hitter this week. The crewneck uses subtle branding on the front with the classic stacked logos that we all admire. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that these are stitched on patches as opposed to screen printed graphics because the patches give the piece a higher quality that won’t fade or crack over time. We can hope for patches on the front but it’s highly unlikely that we get anything other than a screen print for the graphics on the back. None the less, the back of this piece is gorgeous and in this form you can admire the entire photo used on the jackets in the collection. Combine the uninterrupted scenic view with the side by side Supreme and The North Face box logos and you have a design that will go down in streetwear history. Estimated retail for this work of art will land around 0.

The Supreme x The North Face Mountain Parka is the most hyped item of this week’s drop, and arguably this entire season. The hype comes with good reason as this was the item that has flooded our feeds with leaked images as well as a select few acquiring the piece early. Combine the social media frenzy with the fact that this silhouette cannot currently be purchased online from The North Face and you have a perfect storm for a hyped release.

Functionally, the Mountain Parka is completely waterproof with a zip and double snap front closure system. There are plenty of pockets to keep all of your items dry as well, including a “media pocket” with an internal clasp to keep your headphones in place. The jacket combines HyVent technology with Primaloft insulation to keep you warm while still being breathable. This piece is highly adjustable, equipped with velcro cuffs and shock cord systems at the hood and waist.

The aesthetics of the jacket are bar none. The wrap around hyper-realistic graphics couldn’t have been executed any better. Photos of the jacket won’t do it any justice as the design will be even more mesmerizing as it glides through the streets… or trails. But let’s be honest, we won’t be hiking in this piece. The Mountain Parka will retail around 0.

Sleepers

The Mountain Nuptse Blanket is literally and figuratively the sleeper of The North Face collab. Loaded with 700 fill down insulation this blanket is ready for any weather conditions you may encounter this winter. The blanket is 58″ wide by 69″ long, meaning that it’s too short (like it reps The Bay) for a full-size bed and not wide enough for a queen-size bed. However, it still has plenty of functionality as this is the ultimate flex piece at your local drive-in theater. Estimated retail for this piece is 0, which is pricey, to say the least, but it will also deter most resalers.

The North Face collaboration is taking all of the attention this week and with just cause, making the lookbook items easier to cook. The Supreme GT Hooded Sweatshirt is reminiscent of older Supreme pieces before all of the hype began. The racing vibes are strong in this piece, hence the “GT” and the italicized font on the sleeves will be rad in motion on a bike or board. The hood of the sweatshirt also has a racing stripe in the middle that will look great with the hood down as it continues with the same color as the back of the piece. Although the Hooded Sweatshirt has little hype it will have the same longevity as similar racing pieces like the F1 Pullover from spring/summer ’14. Retail for this fast and furious piece will land around 0.

Duds

The Polartec Deep Pile Balaclava was thought to drop earlier this season but rumors were later squashed and as a result the hype has grown over this piece. Aesthetically this piece works because it features a box logo and you can’t go wrong with that. The Balaclava fails from a functionality standpoint though. Will it keep you warm? Yes. Where the piece goes wrong is how you use it in an everyday scenario. Image yourself going to grab dinner on a blistering night and then having to take it off — you’re going to have a hard time looking as good as you did when you had it on. Think about going to a cafe to get a quick cup of joe, you won’t be able to pull the Balaclava aside to slurp down your cappuccino after you have it because your mouth is covered. If you have purchased a Polartec garment then you know that it keeps you very warm, almost too warm. Polartec wrapped around your head is going to trap in a bunch of sweat so increase your dose of Proactiv before donning this joint. Save your money and hairdo by waiting for the Arabic Logo Neoprene Facemask that will drop later this season. Retail for the Polartec Deep Pile Balaclava will land at about .

How to Cop

Same as it ever was.

The North Face collaboration and this week’s lookbook items will drop Thursday, November 30th at European and American Supreme stores with the online drop at 11 am EST. The Japanese release will be Saturday, December 2nd.

Shiekh Shoes Has Filed for Bankruptcy

It is no secret that the retail industry is seeing its fair share of struggles this year and sneaker retailers, despite the hot category that it is, are far from immune to the pain.

Earlier this month it was reported that Shiekh Shoes, a chain based in Ontario, CA operating in 120 stores in 10 states, was seeking funding to avoid bankruptcy.  Speaking to Reuters, founder and owner of the chain Shiekh Ellahi cited his company’s financial woes were due to issues with banks and suppliers.

In the past three years, Shiekh was required to remodel 61 of his stores (almost half of his chain) to meet the demands and design requirements set forth by brands that were sold in store that included big names including Nike, Adidas and Puma among many others. Just last month, Nike’s CEO Mark Parker said that the company would be reducing the number of accounts it would wholesale shoes to from approximately 30,000 to just 40.

First reported by Sara Germano of the Wall Street Journal, Chapter 11 Bankruptcy papers were filed today in U.S. Bankruptcy Court that included a list of creditors including Nike who is owed approximately Million.

According to Ellahi, the company isn’t in default with any creditors or landlords but it is struggling.

We have reached out to Shiekh Shoes for comment and will update when we receive a response.

BRONX NEWS: NYPD cops fatally shoot man at center for mentally ill (GRAPHIC)

The NYPD Wednesday released police footage that shows a 43-second long confrontation that ends with two Bronx cops shooting dead a knife-wielding man who they said had just stabbed two security guards in a home for the mentally ill, authorities said.

It was the third such release, and second this week, since the NYPD began a departmentwide rollout of its much-anticipated body camera program.

The Nov. 13 encounter began when guards Kathy Hope, 48, and Michelle Sutton, 29, were stabbed at the Hughes House on Hughes Ave. and E. 178th St. in Tremont around 7:45 p.m., police said.

Police arrived to find Cornell Lockhart, 67, in the lobby, waving his arms in a circular motion, and soon realized he had stabbed the two guards, an attack police later realized was captured on building surveillance video.

Cops fatally shoot suspect after stabbing at mentally ill center

Video footage from the two officers — Shawn Loftus and Nicole Kraus — shows the cops about 10 feet away from Lockhart, yelling at him 19 times to drop his weapon from his right hand.

Lockhart, clad in a red jacket and off-white pants, is seen shuffling his feet side to side and can be heard loudly saying, “Shoot me,” a number of times.

Then he took a step toward police, and Loftus fired six times and Krause three times. Lockhart was struck several times and fell forward, landing next to a pool of blood that police said was from one of the guards.

The NYPD, like with the release of two other shootings captured on camera, would not say if the shooting was justified or not, pointing out that the internal investigation is not yet complete.

NYPD plans to release bodycam footage of shooting in Harlem

Neither Loftus, an 11-year veteran, nor Kraus, a cop for one year, was armed with a Taser.

Lockhart, however, was within the “zone of safety” — at least 20 feet — that officers are taught to maintain, if possible, with armed suspects.

Sutton was stabbed in the arm, and Hope was knifed in the chest and arms. Both went to St. Barnabas with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 55-unit Hughes House is run by Urban Pathways, a nonprofit organization that offers supportive housing for mentally ill and homeless people.

SEE IT: NYPD cops shoot uncooperative man in body cam video

Urban Pathways CEO Frederick Shack told The New York Times that Lockhart has lived in the building since 2011 and had a history of mental illness.

The shooting happened about a year after a Hughes House resident fatally stabbed a housemate in the neck, when the victim refused to lend him money, according to authorities.

Perry Little, 70, died weeks after the Oct. 30 stabbing. Alleged attacker Marcus Graham, 47, is in jail awaiting prosecution on murder charges.

The NYPD on Monday released body camera footage that showed a 33-second confrontation in which an officer shot an emotionally disturbed man in the leg in his Harlem building after the man charged at officers while carrying two knives.

NYPD releases bodycam footage of fatal police shooting

Paris Cummings, 27, survived the wound was charged with attempted murder of a police officer.

In September, footage from police cameras showed Miguel Richards, 31, shot and killed by cops during a tense standoff in his Bronx apartment, with Richards refusing to drop his knife and what turned out to be a fake gun.
