BRONX NEWS: Bronx man cuffed for slashing Mexican immigrant walking with son

A Bronx man was busted Saturday for slashing a man in the face in front of his 1-year-old son, authorities said.

Joseph Key, 24, was arrested for slicing Ociel Herrera while he was walking home with his child on E. 139th St. near Willis Ave. in Mott Haven about 2 p.m. on Feb. 1, police said.

Herrera, a 41-year-old Mexican immigrant, told the Daily News that Key screamed, “F–k your country,” during the attack.

“I just felt a strike on my face. I noticed the blood. He had a blade. My son was in shock. He stood there paralyzed,” Herrera said Thursday.

The injured father ran after his attacker with his child’s scooter but Key escaped.

Medics treated Herrera at the scene. His son was not hurt.

Key is charged with assault and aggravated harassment as hate crimes, as well as weapons possession and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
