BRONX NEWS: Man’s death months after he was attacked in Bronx ruled homicide

A 20-year-old man attacked on a Bronx street died months later — and his death has been ruled a homicide, police said Thursday.

Cops responding to a report of a robbery on E. 134th St. near Brook Ave. in Mott Haven found Musa Tunkara with a deep gash to his chest and cuts to his head about 8:30 p.m. July 17.

Tunkara was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he died on Oct. 25, officials said.

An autopsy determined last week that Tunkara, who lived six blocks from where he was assaulted, died of complications stemming from blunt impact injuries he received.

The city Medical Examiner declared his death a homicide.

Relatives didn’t know why Tunkara was killed.

“He was a good person. Good energy. He was always looking out for me,” Tunkara’s sister Fatoumata Tunkara, 18, said. “Why would you want to do that to somebody’s child?”

“What they did to him, period, is a problem,” she said.

No arrests have been made.
