BRONX NEWS: One dead, 5 injurd in Bronx crash

One person is dead and five people were hospitalized in the Bronx Saturday after a car collided with another vehicle, vaulted a sidewalk and slammed into fence, officials said.

The two cars collided on Morris Park Ave. near Bogart Ave. in Morris Park just before 5 p.m.

One of the vehicles careened onto the sidewalk and bashed through a chain-link fence surrounding a single-family home, witnesses said.

Nearly two hours after the crash, the car could still be seen on the sidewalk, half-in and half-out of a resident’s front yard.

One victim died at the scene, an FDNY spokesman said. The remaining five were transported to Jacobi Hospital.

Three of the five hospitalized victims were in critical condition, officials said. The remaining two were in serious but stable condition.

It was not immediately disclosed how many of the victims were on the sidewalk at the time of the crash.

Cops were investigating what sparked the crash Saturday night.
