Wednesday, October 19th 2011, 12:47 PM
Police are on the hunt for a gun-totting thug who was caught on video running away after he ambushed and shot a man in the Bronx.
The attacker ran up and shot a 25-year-old man once in the thigh as he walked along McClellan St. near Morris Ave. in Morris Heights shortly before 1 a.m. on Sept. 20.
The gunman then fled but was caught on a nearby surveillance camera running up the street, holding the the gun in his right hand.
The victim was taken to Lincoln hospital where he was treated and released.
It is not clear what prompted the bloodshed, said police. Nothing was taken from the victim, and the robbery does not appear to be the motive, police sources said.
Police did not provide a description of the triggerman.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers tipline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
