Releasing to a warm reception late last year which resulted in solid retail performance, the adidas Prophere hopes to keep its buzz buzzing with an upcoming “Triple Black” edition.

Dressed in its contemporary knit structure with mesh overlays that double as three stripes branding, the shoe appears to marry black and anthracite shades above chunky, performance centric midsole tooling.

LeBron Rocks Nike Air Force 1 “More Than An Athlete” Makers Custom Before All-Star Game

Still incensed by the comments Fox News’ Laura Ingraham made about him, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James sent a direct shot to her choice words with his choice of footwear before the 2018 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.

Wanting to let Ingraham and his other critics know that he won’t “shut up and dribble,” James wore a custom pair of Nike Air Force 1 that had “More Than An Athlete” written one one side, deriving from the 90/10 custom creations from Nike’s Makers of the Game space in LA.

Peep photo of James’ custom AF1 below.

Nike Air Zoom Generation “All Star” Updates ’04 Favorite

14 years ago, LeBron James was a rookie and by far the most promising one in a class of stars. While the Chosen One was on schedule his first season to be the toast of the Association as he’s become today, the fans and the coaches neglected to place him into the 2004 All-Star Game.

Only somewhat of a snub given the lack of rookies that make the game on an annual basis, Nike still had to prepare for sky high expectations by creating the Nike Air Zoom Generation “All Star” which played to the LA lineup that included Huaraches and Air Force 1s.

14 years later and back in the same city, LeBron pulled out a 2018 version that sees the same styling as his primitive PE only with modern tagging.

While smart one would say these would’ve dropped in quickstrike fashion this weekend when the iron is hot, maybe these are more than just a PE? We’re guessing not, but check out Bron’s pair below and blow him and Kith up on social in hopes of getting a holiday drop. Congrats, King!

I know my purpose and its for damn sure bigger than just dribbling a basketball. Thank you young fella for allowing me to inspire you! The greatest moment today! ?

Nike LeBron 15 Low // Preview

The Nike LeBron 15 Low may be coming soon. Debuted by LeBron James during NBA All-Star Weekend practice and falling midway into the flagship model’s rollout, the below ankle take is in line with its mid top proper and may be even better where lifestyle wear in concerned.

Sporting the same BattleKnit construction sans above ankle collar, a speckled midsole and gradient branding add momentum to the model that’s getting juice from its PE program.

Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for launch specifics and preview the pair via our IG below.

Under Armour HOVR House Lifts Off in LA

lead image via UA, additional photography by Oscar Castillo

Going up on a Wednesday, Under Armour defied gravity and basketball bias launching their HOVR House party pop-up at NBA All-Star Weekend in LA.

The performance runner with lifestyle legs offers a floating feel with an anti-gravity design first met by the wearer upon making contact with the anatomical insole. Industry mainstays like a knit upper, smartly branded heel cage and heel-to-toe cushioning see the specs needed to cut time on the track while UA’s HOVR Foam offers lower impact and higher energy return for going the distance. Really about that action? The shoe comes in connected form for those looking to track their times with the MapMyRun App.

While marbled mid tops and icy white low top takes on the HOVR laced attendees at the party pop-up from Jordan Speith to Amine, the floating fortress in Hollywood provided a preview to host of upcoming colorways — most notably school spirited offerings prime for March Madness.

Of most note to UA faithful, a smooth UCLA pair sees blue to white gradient fade similar to that of coveted Currys while brand institutions like Notre Dame, Wisconsin and others will see retail release this spring.

Get an inside look at the LA HOVR House below and look for Under Armour’s anti-gravity gathering to touch down at SXSW in Austin, TX in March followed by a Washington, DC pop-up in April. To RSVP for those HOVR House locations click here. To purchase a pair of HOVRs, click here.

Designing The Adidas FutureCraft Creator NDP With The Brooklyn Creator Farm

words // Nick DePaula
images // Jeffrey Jason & Nick DePaula

To kick off the brand’s massive 747 Warehouse St. celebration during NBA All-Star Weekend, Adidas is looking to showcase several of their brightest innovations and future concepts.

Marking the first time that the Brooklyn Creator Farm brought their collective tools and talents to a public brand event, Farm leaders Marc Dolce, Denis Dekovic and Mark Miner hosted a series of 2-hour Maker Lab workshops earlier today, challenging creators to come up with their own silhouette and design on the spot.

“We want to give you 10% of the shoe, and then the rest is entirely up to you to create,” outlined Dolce.

Taking early inspiration from the trio’s celebratory group photo from when they first joined the Adidas brand in late 2014 — which I actually shot on a rainy Portland day — I was able to work alongside Dekovic and the Farm’s master maker Eric Wise to bring my design to life over the course of two hours.

With five toolings at our disposal, we started with the Crazy BYW platform, one my favorite designs in recent memory from the brand. I also happened to be wearing my pair, which came in handy as Denis grabbed some tape and pen for a few mock toe-down designs along the way. From there, we toyed with additional parts and pieces, before sticking to a mostly sleekened and minimal look.

Styled in hues of Berrypark Concrete and Hawthorne Blue, the FutureBoost Creator NDP combines forefoot Boost and a 4D printed heel together, merging two of the brand’s biggest innovations for the very first time.

The upper features an exaggerated and laceless silhouette, with a lateral support wedge offering a texture and color break. Branding along the collar combines the Nice Kicks speech bubble with my own NDP logo, a combination of my initials and my affinity for throwing terrible behind-the-back pass turnovers during pickup runs.

Follow along throughout the process of concepting, hacking and making the Adidas FutureBoost Creator NDP, designed in tandem with Brooklyn Farm creators Denis Dekovic and Eric Wise. The BCF pop-up will be finalizing the construction this weekend, with a final look at the assembled shoe on the way. Let us know what you think on Instagram at @NiceKicks and @NickDePaula.
