Yep, I’m happy. Just back from a long weekend in London. Thanks for the info, David. I found the Ben Eine alphabet and managed to photograph all the letters accept the K which had a white van parked in front of it. All the letters will follow shortly.

Pulsating high above the heart of the city, Tsunami 1.26 is a gigantic aerial net installation by acclaimed American artist Janet Echelman. This spectacular vision is one of the works from the Powerhouse Museum’s Love Lace exhibition, and combines ancient craft practice with cutting-edge technology to create an oasis of sculpture delicate enough to be choreographed by the wind. Netted with a high tensile rope, 15 times stronger than steel in weight, and lit by changing coloured lights, Tsunami is inspired by the events that unfolded following the 2010 Chile earthquake. Using a 3D model of the 2010 tsunami, and software to create an outline of the model’s higher amplitude area, Echelman created her sculptural form, with machine-knotted mesh revealing the intricacy of traditional netting.

There are already a number of nice photos of Arne Quinze’s Cityscape in Brussels, but since there was a nice light today I thought I’d post mine too.

This is a typical Brussels story: a block of houses and shops were razed a few years ago but the real estate developer got stuck with lawsuits and complaints from all over the place. That left a gaping hole on Avenue de la Toison d’Or, one of Ixelles’ popular shopping areas. Come Arno Quinze, a designer with a talent for marketing, who persuaded the city government to let him build his Cityscape while the developer sorts out its legal problems.
