Vans OTW “Boot Pack”

vans otw boot pack Vans OTW Boot Pack

Vans OTW makes two easy selections and one that’s a slight stretch but still works nicely for this new five piece ‘Boot Pack’.  If you were going to make such a pack, it’s only natural to include the Vans OTW Alomar, which has already dropped in a few rugged styles these past couple years.  Joining the two Alomars is fellow midtop the Bedford, and the set is rounded out by a couple of Ludlows that don’t really look like boots with their lowtop derby shape, but they accept the slightly rugged treatment quite well.  Check out how the upgraded materials takes these familiar OTW silos to a new level in more images below and find yours now at select retailers including straight from Vans.

Nike SB Blazer Mid LR “Blackout”

nike sb blazer mid lr blackout 1 Nike SB Blazer Mid LR Blackout

The last Nike SB Blazer Mid LR of note was black, its heel having been modified with a new embroidery pattern courtesy of street artist Neckface.  Here’s another, even blacker Blazer LR, which is to say that this one skips all the white elements in favor of a ‘Blackout’ approach.  This is the first time we’ve seen a triple black makeup on this particular version of the Blazer, and though the established Blazer SB is always available in black/white, that long-running model has yet to see one like this.  So here’s a case where the Blazer LR outpaces its older brother, and you can get in on it now with pairs available at Size?

A Further Look at the Raf Simons for adidas 2014 Spring/Summer Collection | Video

With the previous Further Look video, Hypebeast visited the adidas showroom in Paris to get a firsthand look at the footwear brand’s collaboration with Rick Owens. In the showroom we also were given a chance to film an additional project with another distinguished designer: the Raf Simons for adidas 2013 Spring/Summer collection — displaying the seminal footwear label’s diverse approach in appealing to various consumers. Consistently pushing the envelope in terms of design and material, the joint release sees a special “shoe-in-shoe” concept that plays with our senses in creating greater variance and depth – applying Raf’s unique vision to some of adidas’s most iconic silhouettes including a remix of the Stan Smith and an adidas Bounce-inspired trainer. The complete collection includes eight unisex models in various colorways, totaling 21 special designs which incorporate seasonal patterns from the Raf Simons apparel collection. Expect to find exaggerated shapes, LEGO colors and Velcro closures, all incorporating nylon, leather, sports mesh and embroidery. The collection is slated for a February 2014 release and will retail within a price range of €270-350 EUR (approximately $ 350-460 USD).

Tiger Woods Inks New Nike Endorsement Deal

Unsurprisingly, Tiger has finally inked a new endorsement deal with Nike. One of his better endorsement deals, it is certain that Tiger will suit up in and continue to play with Nike products for a really long time.

Still amidst his current contract which is set to expire at the end of this year, Tiger can write this deal off as his fourth contract with Nike. No monetary details have been reported pertaining to the deal, however with past 5-year contracts reaching the 0 million mark it’s not too hard to believe that he’ll see a similar figure, if not more next year.

Here’s what some had to say about the deal:

“We’re comfortable with where we ended up and the career trajectory that Tiger will be on with Nike.” “I’m thrilled we were able to complete this deal.” – Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Tiger.” “He is one of Nike’s most iconic athletes and has played an integral part in Nike Golf’s growth since the very beginning. We look forward to sharing many more of the exciting awe-inspiring sport moments that Tiger is known to create in golf. At the same time, we will continue to utilize his insights to develop the most innovative products that support golfers reaching their full potential.” – Cindy Davis, President of Nike Golf

As a .gif of Tiger Woods doing the money dance would be everything and more, we say congratulations to one of greatest golfers to every play the game.

BRONX NEWS: Native plants love the heat!

At least some living things thrive in this diabolical heat.

As temperatures skyrocketed this week, the desert flora at the New York Botanical Garden’s just-opened Native Plant Garden were thriving

In fact, the staff doesn’t even have to water the yellow, lavender and red flowers.

“They are adapted to droughty conditions because that’s the habitat in which they evolved,” said Kristin Schleiter, the Botanical Garden’s outdoor garden specialist. “They really are quite self-sufficient.”

The garden within a garden opened in May to showcase how plants live in natural northeast settings.

Sunflowers, blazing stars and wild quinine are some of the demon flowers just taunting New Yorkers trying to survive this inferno.

“We’re not sure how long we’re going to last in this heat,” said Agnes Bayer, 56, who was visiting the Native Plant Garden with a friend, Nydia Martinez.

Both enjoyed the rustic, unsculpted look of the dry area.

“The Botanical Gardens doesn’t have to be all fancy dancy,” said Bayer. “I like that they let us see what it would be like if we went out to the wild.”

Some other plants at the native garden embrace the sun another way. Water lilies and lotuses make it a pool day in the rays, some plants even relaxing in heated water.

“They love full sun,” said Francisca Coelho, the Garden’s vice president for glasshouses and exhibitions. “So they are really blooming.”

For humans, comfort in this habitat is harder to come by. Bayer said, lasting only a few minutes in heat that only a wildflower could love.
