It’s rather impressive that the Air Penny continues to outwork Nike’s contemporary signature models with an astounding four signature releases in 2012 (Air Foamposite One, Zoom Rookie, Air Penny II, and Air Penny V). Arriving at retailers this June is the Nike Air Penny II in Soar/Cyber-White-Black, previewed in mid-January as a set of Quickstrike releases; Sneaker News now brings you an exclusive first look at this June 2012 drop, which features the familiar ‘Sprite’ ensemble on the classic Air Penny II model. Spotted at an exclusive event for the premiere of MTV2′s Hip Hop Squares (catch the show tomorrow evening at 11 PM on MTV2), this June release has the gumption to compete with the month’s other big-ticket items – especially if you’re an Air Penny fan. We’ll also keep you updated on the second high-energy Air Penny II colorway slated to drop alongside the Soar/Cyber release (which was alluded during the initial preview). You can find this upcoming Air Penny II release as well as a slew of other upcoming high-profile releases at Footaction in June, soon so check out the gallery of images below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates.

Whenever the New Balance 1500 crosses your mind, don’t you usually picture them in suede? This premium 1988 runner has been issued in innumerable suede and mesh colorups over the years, but even if that’s the ‘standard’ form, you can’t really argue with a small change that produces results like these. This NB1500UC employs a leather upper in black instead of the navy suedes we’re more accustomed to seeing on these N-branded classics, and paired with grey and a white midsole, these capture the look that’s been oh so popular in early 2012. They’re expected in stores around the same time as the purple and green suede editions, and you can pre-order now in advance of that June 2nd drop date from Berlin’s Overkill.

Kobe Bryant is now 3-for-3 with his Kobe VII player exclusives in the Lakers vs. Thunder series. In last night’s Game 3, the Black Mamba pulled out yet another colorway of his seventh signature shoe; this particular pair will probably raise eyebrows more than the others. Scottie Pippen’s Nike Air Maestro All-Star might be one of the most daring Nike Basketball sneakers of the decade, owning that sick tonal-red ‘look at me!’ colorway in the high-top profile (and yes, someone actually wore them last week and was featured on Monday’s ‘Best of WDYWT’). A similar ‘All-Star’ pair in the Maestro Flight already released, but if you’re more akin to blue than you are to red, then this new Soar Blue colorway should be right up your alley. Earlier this year Nike iD introduced classic Cement Grey elephant print to the Air Force 1, but soon supplemented that option with more colorways options.
