Until pretty recently, the selection of colors and materials in heavy duty boots has been lacking outside of the always interesting trail shoe market. But designs like workboots, duckboots and even combat boots have all seen their classic designs embraced and enhanced by sneaker manufacturers who have taken a jeet kun do approach, taking what works for their hybrids and enhancing them with new approaches. The Nike SFB iD takes that aesthetic appeal that Nike Sportswear has mastered of late and applies it to the Swoosh’s world-beating service boot, and now you can even craft the Special Field Boot to your exact specifications on NIKEiD. Sneaker News gave you a glimpse at the possibilities before the preview launched in mid-January, and with the launch on January 31st (along with the Air Max+ 2009 and a couple Zoom KD IV variations), you’ll be able to create your own pair like the new samples you’ll see after the jump below.

In a break from the past, Converse sidesteps yet another collaboration with Japanese label Bedwin & the Heartbreakers to team up directly with the brand’s creative director and mastermind, Masafumi Watanabe. The result is a sneaker-boot hybrid that blends the Jack Purcell Johnny High with a traditional duck boot. Features include a gusseted tongue, metal eyelets and water resistant upper built with a combination of rubber and stitched leather. Nothing about Jeremy Scott’s adidas Originals by Originals is about blending into the background, so you might have already seen these in the distance when viewing some of our other previews from Bread & Butter Berlin. The Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals JS Hiking Boot pictured above is easily the wildest take on this traditional trail design yet, a neon green macro croc patent leather explosion whose black sole and eyelets and pink-outlined purple branding make these look like part of a lasertag/paintball uniform. Along with J.Scott’s safari of an Instinct Hi, we have a growing body of evidence where Three Stripes’ most audacious guest designer has comfortably settled in at the leading edge of one of this year’s most notable trends. Let us know how these compare to the comparatively understated polka-dotted pair that hit retailers most recently, and stick with Sneaker News for more info. via Numelo
