The Supra Owen is the Crown brand’s first running sneaker, a departure for this brand that’d heretofore focused its energies on the skateboarding scene. It’s a risk that’s paying dividends as sneakerheads and casual buyers alike come to recognize the potential for lightweight and breezy summer comfort coming from this ‘unlikely’ source at a wholly reasonable price point. The Owen is back for summer with two new colorways, one a ‘Sport Blue’-inspired answer to March’s OG Air Max 1-inspired release, the other closer to the kinds of styles we saw in 2010′s Air Attack Pack thanks to the subtle use of purple accents on an otherwise black base. Check out both in greater detail below, then grab yours straight from Supra.

Sneaker News hasn’t profiled a single new Air Force 1 Mid release since January, so not only is it great news that a new pair is dropping right now, but also that it’s being joined by another AF1 that’s likely the more popular silhouette. The Nike Air Force 1 Mid in white leather with select Dark Obsidian accents is blocked in the same pattern as a Vivid Orange-accented Air Force 1 High, both of which sport the Uptown’s most basic color-on-white scheme. These are indispensible summertime sneakers whose color pops only add wearability, and they’re available now from Foot Locker and their House of Hoops specialty locations.

The New Balance 991 is one of that brand’s classics that’s about as close as you can get to ‘technical’ while still maintaining that iconic old school suede-and-mesh vibe, and though these latest pairs are more leather-leaning, they manage another way to connect with the wardrobe friendly NB steez. These NB991s were all ‘Made in UK’ with the Italian market in mind, but it looks like small numbers of these finely crafted designs will arrive at select retailers around the world. Each pair is slightly different in its blocking and material distribution, so have a closer look below, let us know which pair you’re most likely to buy and stick with Sneaker News for release info. via HS

Def Jam’s Shawn “Pecas” Costner just dropped this image, showing him rocking both the Wolf Grey/Pure Platinum and the Black/Solar Red colorways of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 at the same time.

Since the 2012 NBA Playoffs are getting underway this weekend, Jordan Brand is gearing up for the release of special post-season colorways of the CP3.V, Melo M8 and Fly Wade 2 EV.
With Melo and Wade going up against one another in the first round of the playoffs, you will likely see both players rocking one of these new colorways on court at AmericanAirlines Arena tomorrow afternoon while Paul will don the “Away” look in Memphis against the Grizzlies on Sunday.
Look for the CP3.V and Melo M8 colorways to drop on May 9 while the Fly Wade 2s will see a drop on May 16. Stay tuned for a detailed look at each individual pair.

As LeBron moves forward to the “second season” tomorrow, his feet will look slightly different, as he will switch out his LeBron 9s for the upgraded Elite version. Truth be told, a guy of LeBron’s talent-level can ball on god-like levels with any pair of shoes on, but his shoes will only affirm optimal levels of play (to his opponents: be very afraid). Another summer-time tradition for the LeBron line has been the unique Solider Series, but the upcoming sixth chapter has some increased buzz surrounding this apparent ‘take-down’ model; complete with an ankle-strap, Hyperfuse upper, and a snazzy Swoosh placement at the forefoot, this Soldier 6 (seen here in three upcoming colorways), is more than likely to be a popular pick once it rolls around this Fall. Also placed by the Soldier is an Air Flight One in White/Black/Red/Grey that we previewed last week. Your thoughts on the Soldier 6? Let us know in the comments below. Photo: dino410

Inside the Nike Basketball design studios, performance is everything. Every move and decision is made with maximum performance in mind, including the actual visual look of the shoes created within. The pursuit of ultimate functionality determines not only how a shoe performs and feels on your foot, but in many cases, it also dictates a lot of the aesthetic choices as well. Once the shoe has been fully developed and engineered to it’s full potential, it’s time for the color, graphics and materials team to further bring the products to life with a variety of color splashes and palettes to help to tell certain stories and give some additional identity to each colorway.
Yesterday, in part 1 of our Nike Basketball Elite Series interview with Nike Bball designers Jason Petrie and Leo Chang, we got the full lowdown on the technical updates made to each of the three models to upgrade from their original forms into this super premium postseason-inspired collection. Now we take a deeper look at why the Elite Series looks the way it does, from its shapes, lines and materials to the various color schemes and the stories behind them. Continue reading for all you wanted to know about the Nike Basketball Elite Series aesthetics and colorways, and be on the look out for the home and away versions of all three models hitting retailers this Saturday, April 28th.

Following up on the return of the original ‘Steel Blue’ colorway, we see that New Balance is readying more new 1300 colorways for the upcoming months. Here are two fresh New Balance 1300s coming up for Q3, a couple of suede and mesh classics that demonstrate NB’s penchant for grey and navy designs by combining the brand’s signature colors in mirror-image blocking patterns. Aside from their opposite color distribution, the blue-r joints add a hint of red for a reminder that these were crafted in one of New Balance‘s five New England factories. Check them out in greater detail after the jump and check back with Sneaker News for word on when they release.

Supra released just as many new colorways after its ‘spring 2012′ collection of Society Mids dropped in February, so should we take this new drop to mean that four additional pairs will soon follow? The Supra Society Mid is getting ready for summer with a quartet of new colorups that are all equally simple thanks to two-toned palettes. The grey/neon pair also known as the ‘Fresh’ Society Mid might be the most timely of the bunch, but it’s hard to knock the ‘Dunkman’-like appeal of the ‘Jade’ edition, or the timeless color/white combo exhibited on both the ‘Scuba’ and ‘Majestic’ drops. Check out all four after the jump, then head over to Supra and buy yours straight from the source.

We’ve seen sneakers become a default footwear choice thanks to comfort and street appeal as well as a microcosm of this movement as basketball sneakers were adopted as one of the cornerstones of skate shoe design, so what does a brand that’s rooted in skate and lifestyle looks do to expand their reach? In the case of the Crown brand, they got back to most fundamental reason people wear casually wear sneakers instead of traditional dress shoes: comfort. The Supra Owen offers a lightweight, well-cushioned ride that seems to nod toward several classic designs while ending up in a corner of the market all its own. Two new colorways are now hitting retailers, and you can see more of the ‘Sprite’ and Chicago-style pairs below before you grab them straight from Supra.
