Sneaker customizer Martin Figueroa-Ramirez is better known around these parts as ROM thanks to a range of work on the Nike Dunk High and Low silhouettes that push the boundaries of creativitiy in today’s homage-heavy custom culture. But now that he’s an established force in the custom game, ROM has seemingly switched his focus to applying that same level of detail and attention to the hottest trend going: colorway swaps. Following up on the Air Jordan VI-inspired LeBron 8 ‘Oreo’ comes the Nike Dunk High ‘UNDRDG’, a military-themed look inspired by the UNDFTD x Air Jordan IV that manages to go even further than the legendary original by adding the AJIII’s signature Elephant print to the toebox and eyestay. Given the reputation of the UNDFTD AJ4s as one of the all-time grails, we won’t even ask if these are better than their muse, but how does ROM‘s latest stack up against one of the best loved non-bred Jays ever? February was already poised to be a fantastic month-long stretch of sneaker releases, but last week’s revelation of the Air Jordan 1 High Dave White release date just made it even better. Jordan Brand will in fact release these to the public on February 11th, but will follow that up with a second wave of releases scheduled on February 24th – the day before the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. Dave White’s design of the Air Jordan 1 will go towards support of the Jordan Brand WINGS For The Future program, which aims to assists in-need schools with new facilities and counseling. Sneaker Customs have become an acceptable form of expressive art thanks to the great concepts and craftsmanship that we’ve seen over the last few years. Revive Customs is one of the major players in the ever-growing Sneaker Custom game, serving up blockbusters like the Air Jordan 1 ‘What The One’ from 2009 to his jaw-dropping Air Trainer 1 that he fashioned for Niketalk’s Help Haiti Custom Sneaker Auctions. His latest vision arrives in the form of the Dunk High, using the pair to express his interpretation of the classic tale of Jekyll & Hyde; using a wide array of materials, like the red netting on the tongue and what appears to a braided hair-like material on the toe-box border. The Nike Dunk High AC is one of those sneakers that may take a layman a few seconds of staring to figure out the alterations made from the base-model Dunk. Of course if you’re familiar with the infinite iterations and their respective initials you know that AC indicates the autoclaved sole. The wipe of traditional Dunk-tooling results in something a bit more minimal, as seen on the red and khaki versions shown here. Like the navy pair from earlier this week, these also take the textile treatment on the inner and towards the tongue, getting some groovy patterns to spice up the monotone upper. Following a flurry of Dunk High releases to kick off the month of February, Nike Sportswear will be dropping even more colorways of the 80s classic as we move into March.
One such look will be this “Sail/Safety Orange” colorway. Featuring the same color blocking scheme as the “Black/Safety Orange” pair, these replace the black accents with white while also switching out tumbled leather for smooth leather.
You can expect the sail/safety orange-sail Dunk High to hit NSW spots on March 1 for .
Nike Sportswear has one more Dunk High release on tap for you tomorrow.
Joining the other colorways we’ve already previewed is this black/safety orange look. Like the others, it couples smooth black leather with tumbled leather paneling alongside a black midsole and contrasting outsole.
These will be available for at select NSW spots tomorrow, February 1.

Veja and French Trotters have collaborated once again and produced an eco-friendly black leather high top sneaker. For those in the know, “The leather used has been tanned naturally using acacia extracts. The soles are made of wild rubber originating from the Amazonian rainforest”. More importantly, the soles started out as a liquid from an Amazonian tree which is then hardened to be pliable and durable for use as footwear. Nike Dunk High Premium – ’2012 NBA All-Star Game Pack’
This year, the NBA will be taking their All Star weekend to the streets of Orlando, and Nike wants in on the action. This new Quickstrike pack of Premium Dunk Highs were done especially for the game, with KD, Kobe and LeBron in mind. Available in three different colorways, the kicks are inspired by astronauts suits, complete with the “warning” on the heel. Each one features a velcro Swoosh, with a matching NASA-like tag on the tongue.
