SB madness meets DIY ethic on the Nike Dunk High “What the Dunk” Custom. A “Mighty Crown” base finds El Cappy expanding his resume by reinterpreting the collage kicks from 2007. This creation was a private order for a local customer and not for sale.

While we await the arrival of Nike Sportswear’s new Deconstruct variation (can’t be too far off with AF1 Decons recently touching down in Japan), here’s the first new Nike Dunk High release from NSW since that BTTYS-style ‘Sail Pack’ from late February. These opt for the blocking pattern that doesn’t yet have a nickname, but probably should, given how much it’s showing up these days. Something like 2010s’ ‘Be True’, this pair gives us a toe, tongue and eyelets in Wolf Grey leather while the rest is covered in Cool Grey twill. Toss in a sour apple green shoestring and we end up somewhere in the Dunkman zone, but as long as you choose your shades carefully, a lace swap should be tenable with tons of vibrant shades. Click through to see more angles on these, then find them at NSW stores like Titolo.

Newly created by Proof Culture, per customer request, is this “South Beach” Nike SB Dunk High.
What originally started out as a black and white colorway of the SB Dunk has been transformed using the popular colorway established by the LeBron 8. Sporting a predominately “Retro” upper, black appears on the heel, Swoosh, eyestay and outsole while white contrasts hit the midsole and lining. Incomplete without the bright pink accents, the color takes the laces, heel tab and tongue tab.
Checkout the latest “South Beach” custom and hit up Proof Culture now to commission your own pair of custom kicks.

Joining the Obsidian colorway of the “Gum Toe” Dunk High AC will be a Khaki colorway from Nike Sportswear.
Utilizing the same Baroque Brown accents on the eyelets and laces, the kicks once again sit atop a vulcanized rubber sole, white foxing and a gum rubber toe cap with a khaki upper and patterned lining.
Also available to pre-order from Titolo, the kicks should be available soon at your local NSW account.

Sneaker News has shown you a fairly large set of upcoming Nike Blazer High VNTG releases this month, each set offering a subtle variation from the formula that’d been this series foundation for about three years. In the case of the pair pictured above, it’s one of three to come with canvas uppers and suede relegated to the overlay sections, and that new material selection appears to have been all for the best on this new Cool Grey release. Its worn appeal transfers perfectly to this new build and a purple sole and embroidery give these a frosty finish. More images follow the jump below, where you can see these in detail before purchasing from a Nike Sportswear retailer like Titolo.

Following up on a long string of BTTYS-style drops from the cupsoled original, the autoclaved Dunk High will return in a couple months in much the same style we remember from its January 2012 releases. These new Nike Dunk High ACs don’t have an official pack name, but their combination of a monochromatic twill upper with boot-like lace details and a gum rubber kickplate manages a rustic vibe that’s still versatile enough for everyday wear. Check out Khaki and Obsidian pairs up close (peep the plaid sockliner) after the jump and pre-order yours from Titolo.

The Nike Blazer High VNTG was introduced in 2009 and except for two leather pairs that year, followed the same formula for each of its releases through last November: add a Sail Swoosh, sole, tongue and laces to a single-colored suede upper. The rustic shades combined with pre-yellowing on those off-white parts gave these an old-meets-new vibe, and then a pack of them apparently made of spare parts from earlier releases flipped the script just before last Thanksgiving. A short while later, new leather pairs released, word of nylon drops to come surfaced and now just a few months later we’ve arrived at a point where just days after the first canvas-uppered pairs have dropped, here’s another duo with a brand new twist on the old recipe. These add tonal Swooshes to compliment your choice of lime green or bold red and both are available now at select Nike Sportswear dealers like Size?

While pro-models will shed the SB tag, you can count on crossover Sportswear models like the Dunk and Blazer to carry on the SB name. Dropping this Holiday 2012 season is an Earl Grey/Medium Mint colorway, which features a two-toned grey upper with a solid Medium Mint outsole and Swoosh. As Nike continues to opt for the simpler approach to its Dunk releases, leaving the wacky ideas to the skate-shops and artists for Quickstrikes, Nike Skateboarding will continue to live on regardless of what happens to branding. More angles below, so take a look and stay tuned for more updates on Nike’s Skateboarding division. via n-sb

The Nike Dunk High’s classic lines make it a favorite for custom sneaker designs, this latest edition hearkening back to some of the pairs that stood out the most over this past decade. Swaves‘ ‘Birds on a Wire’ Dunk High custom reminds us of classic Nike SB releases with a simple graphic hit on the rear panel, in this case a black-on-grey take of exactly what this shoe’s nickname would imply. The context makes them closer to Jeff Staple’s legendary ‘Pigeon’ than a mediocre Mel Gibson film, and the simple Raiders-leaning colorup gives these a timeless quality that spans basically the Dunk’s entire lifespan. Let us know how they compare to the more elaborate custom Dunks we’ve seen here on Sneaker News and click through to see some more images. via Paint or Thread

Though the whimsical Vault Boy might be single most recognizeable character from Bethesda’s Fallout video games, fans of the series know its signature aesthetic is post-nuclear-apocalyptic. This look inspired Jacob Patterson’s latest Nike Dunk High custom, a piece he titled ‘Vault Dweller’ and paired with a bomb casing sculpture that doesn’t just serve as a sick sneaker stand. It’s also a speaker for the two jailbroken iPod Touch devices embedded in each shoe’s tongue as a tribute to the PipBoy 2000 Personal Information Processor. The PIP-Boy got upgraded to 3000 in the recent New Vegas release; does this ‘Vault Dweller’ custom represent a similar leap for handcrafted sneaker designs? Let us know what you think when you click through for more images and stick with Sneaker News for the latest custom designs. via PaintOrThread
