Nike LeBron Soldier 12 Debuts for Playoffs

This spring you won’t find LeBron James doing it for the ‘gram. Nope, everything he’s doing is for the ‘ship. The Nike LeBron Soldier 12 sees the King’s second signature series continuing its postseason positioning while playing to #23’s social media absence.

Debuting in the triple-black “Dark 23” colorway, it is uncertain when LeBron will lace them given the excitement surrounding his PE program — aka #LeBronWatch — that while remiss at retail is still seeing dope do-ups like his recent BB4 homage.

Still, the Soldier series has never been all about ‘Bron as the next generation has always worn and informed the line. Using feedback from amateur and professional players alike, the postseason driven Soldier 12 is all about stripped-down toughness.

“The Soldier was always meant to be stripped down in the best possible way,” Jason Petrie told Nike SNKRS. “Even early on, LeBron’s insight was that the playoffs and the regular season are different. The Soldier has always been about toughness and connecting to the playoffs, in particular.”

The result is a focused piece of footwear built around aspects of the LeBron 15 like a circular knit upper and protective heel and toe caps, bolstered by a wider range of Velcro for more malleable lockdown and uniquely shaped Zoom Air units for lightweight bounce and court feel.

Look for the Nike LeBron Soldier 12 “Dark 23” to drop on April 25 for 0. Peep detailed shots of the shoe and design process below.

These NBA Players Have the Leagues Top-Selling Nike Jerseys This Year

Nike’s first year back as the NBA’s official outfitter wasn’t without issue. Jerseys were ripping. Some completely off a players chest. But from a wider lens, far more went right for Nike then it did wrong. That, coupled with the excitement of the restored partnership, Nike sold a ton of apparel during the 2017-18 season. The top-selling jerseys league-wide were announced today.

Derived from sales figures from the NBA Store, Stephen Curry had the highest selling jersey amongst his peers. To no surprise. LeBron James comes in second position. Kevin Durant is hot on his heels in third. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kyrie Irving round out the top five.

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons secure the No. 8 and 10 spots, respectively, helping the Sixers sell the amount of jerseys they moved when Allen Iverson was around. Despite playing less than ten games all season, Kawhi Leonard lands in the 11th position. Just beneath him in 12th, Lonzo Ball.

As for the top-selling jerseys by team, The Warriors, Cavs and Sixers lead the way. The Lakers and Celtics round out the top five.

Nike Presents Flyprint, the First 3D-Printed Textile Upper in Performance Footwear

With Flyprint, Nike introduces the first 3D-printed textile upper used in performance footwear. The material is created through a process called solid deposit modeling (SDM), in which a TPU filament is unwound from a coil and then melted and laid down in layers. It’s a methodology that allows designers to translate athlete data directly onto new textile geometries. That data is computed to create the ideal composition of the material, and subsequently, the final textile. One benefit of performance printing is efficiency, as prototyping is 16-times quicker than any previous manufacturing method.

Flyprint textiles are lighter and more breathable than any of Nike’s previous textiles, and there’s virtually no friction between the interlaced yarns, allowing for greater precision-tuned containment. The textile also works seamlessly with Flyknit yarns, allowing the two materials to be thermally bond, obviating the need for glue or stitching.

The Nike Flyprint upper debuts on the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite Flyprint shoe, created for Eliud Kipchoge, winner of the Berlin Marathon. Kipchoge will run the London Marathon on April 22nd in the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite Flyprint. That same weekend, a limited run of the shoes will be sold in London through the Nike App.

Nike Introduces Flyprint, its Groundbreaking Performance 3D Printed Textile Technology

Nike has long been a brand based in innovation. Their very excellence hinges upon budding technology and the subsequent ability to transform it into something beneficial to athletes. In 2012, Nike did exactly that with the introduction of Flyknit. It was a masterful play on woven synthetic yarn that could take shape with the foot, ensuring movement and comfort was at a height no Nike shoe before it has ever reached.

Nike Flyprint is both an extension and an evolution of Flyknit. Introduced today, as a base level, Flyprint is a performance 3D printed textile upper produced through solid deposit modeling (or SDM), a process whereby a TPU filament is unwound from a coil, melted and laid down in layers. Moreover, this groundbreaking methodology allows Nike designers to translate athlete data into new textile geometries.

Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite Flyprint

Flyprint performance printing is a vastly advanced approach towards footwear production. Nike has been able to streamline prototyping 16-times faster than in any previous manufacturing method. To that end, the benefits of 3D textiles over traditional 2D fabrics fuse much cleaner and there is no friction resistance between the yarn. It is also lighter and more breathable than Nike’s previously employed textiles.

All of this, of course, is designed for athletes to attain greater success at all levels. More intimately, for distance runners like Eluid Kipchoge to conquer marathons in record time. Later this month, Kipchoge will debut the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite Flyprint during a marathon in London on April 22. To coincide with his race, the shoe will release in limited numbers in London through the Nike app that same weekend.

Release details for U.S. consumers has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned for more details on Nike Flyprint.
