As a part of the brand’s 2012 Spring/Summer collection, designer Daisuke Obana and his Japanese fashion label N.HOOLYWOOD have introduced a take on the classic deck shoe for the warm weather months. Seen here in black and also available in navy and white, N.HOOLYWOOD’s Suede Deck Shoes are now available from ZOZO for ¥18,900 JPY (approximately $ 236 USD).
“Physically, just how big they are is a huge challenge.”
Reebok struck gold in 1992 when they signed an LSU junior center to a shoe deal just as he was readying to become basketball’s biggest personality since Michael Jordan. Shaquille O’Neal hadn’t yet racked up any of his Hall of Fame credentials, but he was still an unmatched specticle thanks to size 22 shoes that made a bigger splash in the mainstream media than Kazaam. Now two decades later, RBK prepares to outfit an even larger man, in fact, the tallest person in all of America.
Igor Vovkovinskiy got up with Reebok researchers yesterday to see what he could do about soothing his massive size-26 feet, a lack of support for which remains the main cause for a slew of recent surgeries on the 7’8″ Kiev product. Igor’s insurance company weren’t sympathetic to the challenges of such a humongous tarsal structure, so Reebok stepped in to create a personalized last at a total cost of somewhere around ,000. And even though Igor won’t be winning any scoring titles, MVPs or championship rings any time soon, might the good will from large-footed customers who hear about this story make this a worthwhile investment? Click through to see the video in full and let us know where this ranks compared to the other unique stories we’ve detailed here on Sneaker News.

DC Shoes has always owned a fair share of the action-sports footwear market, but the Ken Block-led label is branching into athletic footwear with its new Unilite Trainer for Fall 2012. With “extreme” sports athletes rigorously training to compete at the highest level — and advance their respective sports — just like athletes in any other conventional sport, the move to create an athletic shoe is seemingly a logical one. The Unilite features a lightweight and cushioned midsole, a molded Ortholite footbed for maximum instep cushioning, and is lined with a moisture-wicking inner bootie. The shoe will be available in four colorways for both men and women, as well as several signature versions from DC athletes.

Union L.A. partners up with shoe design don Mark McNairy for a Second Edition Saddle Shoe build by the craftsmen over at UK’s Sanders and Sanders. As with the first take, the Saddle Shoe wears a signature blue brick sole in either a black or brown grain leather, cleanly putting a fun remix on a classicly formal silhouette. The difference this season is the addition of a natural leather Goodyear welt that effectively stitches the entire upper, insole, and sole into one uniform piece, which is widely regarded as the finest method to construct formal footwear. A set of white laces and matching white eyelets round out the details of this refresh. Both colorways are available now directly from Union online and in their stores.
