The popularity of Nike Sportswear’s latest trainer hybrid can be best summed up with a recent comment from Sneaker News reader ‘retrotek’ on an earlier teal-accented drop: “This is some Jerry Seinfeld.” retro’s feedback reminds us that Seinfeld’s eponymous lead is not only one of the great TV sneakerheads of all-time, but he’s known for a specific style thanks to the time period in which Larry David’s first show peaked. During roughly that same period, cultural influences including the Charlotte Hornets, Air Jordan V ‘Grape’ and VIII ‘Aqua’ tought us the joys of tertiary colors. The New Green accents on this new Nike Air Trainer Classic not only combine perfectly with Deep Royal Blue to hearken back to the golden era, but also reinforce that initial movement’s key value: it’s a vibrant colorway with supreme versatility ready for pairing with almost anything you’ve got in mind. Check them out in greater detail below, then grab yours from NikeStore.

Even if he represents a different conference than the one many would have expected were this statement uttered just a month or so ago, adidas does indeed find itself with a legitimate shot to capture the NBA Championship with one of its marquee players. The Great Tim Duncan is leading a San Antonio Spurs team that’s playing like a well-oiled machine, and even if Timmay is too big to rock Crazy Lights night in and night out, here’s a new pair that’d perfectly match SATX’ unique greyscale uniforms. The adidas adiZero Crazy Light 2 in Dark Onyx and Tech Grey with white accents is better suited to slashing players who look to maximize their lightweight advantage with razor sharp lateral cuts. This pair will arrive at select adidas Basketball retailers on Thursday, May 24th, and are already up for pre-order at Eastbay and Foot Locker.

It’s rather impressive that the Air Penny continues to outwork Nike’s contemporary signature models with an astounding four signature releases in 2012 (Air Foamposite One, Zoom Rookie, Air Penny II, and Air Penny V). Arriving at retailers this June is the Nike Air Penny II in Soar/Cyber-White-Black, previewed in mid-January as a set of Quickstrike releases; Sneaker News now brings you an exclusive first look at this June 2012 drop, which features the familiar ‘Sprite’ ensemble on the classic Air Penny II model. Spotted at an exclusive event for the premiere of MTV2′s Hip Hop Squares (catch the show tomorrow evening at 11 PM on MTV2), this June release has the gumption to compete with the month’s other big-ticket items – especially if you’re an Air Penny fan. We’ll also keep you updated on the second high-energy Air Penny II colorway slated to drop alongside the Soar/Cyber release (which was alluded during the initial preview). Whenever the New Balance 1500 crosses your mind, don’t you usually picture them in suede? This premium 1988 runner has been issued in innumerable suede and mesh colorups over the years, but even if that’s the ‘standard’ form, you can’t really argue with a small change that produces results like these. This NB1500UC employs a leather upper in black instead of the navy suedes we’re more accustomed to seeing on these N-branded classics, and paired with grey and a white midsole, these capture the look that’s been oh so popular in early 2012. They’re expected in stores around the same time as the purple and green suede editions, and you can pre-order now in advance of that June 2nd drop date from Berlin’s Overkill.

Scottie Pippen’s Nike Air Maestro All-Star might be one of the most daring Nike Basketball sneakers of the decade, owning that sick tonal-red ‘look at me!’ colorway in the high-top profile (and yes, someone actually wore them last week and was featured on Monday’s ‘Best of WDYWT’). A similar ‘All-Star’ pair in the Maestro Flight already released, but if you’re more akin to blue than you are to red, then this new Soar Blue colorway should be right up your alley. Priced at just , these are great pick-ups for any rotation, so check out the images below and cop a pair right now from Premier or on eBay.

Earlier this year Nike iD introduced classic Cement Grey elephant print to the Air Force 1, but soon supplemented that option with more colorways options. Of course, none are as iconic as the original print, but Jordan Brand has toyed around with it, producing off-beat colors seen on the likes of the Black Flip and the ‘Do The Right Thing’. For this newest Air Jordan 1 Phat release, we get a look at the Red/Black elephant print on a fairly classic Bulls combination of colors – a perfect replacement if you’ve yet to find a pair of Black-Toe AJ1s for your collection. Of course, we’ve seen plenty of elephant print-Swooshes on the AJ1 Phat before, but these carry the can’t miss Bulls heritage that will surely please any Jordan collector. Cop these right now at Jordan Brand retailers like Premier after you peep the gallery below.

Riding high on his triple-MVP and first NBA Championship, Michael Jordan debuted the Air Jordan VII at the 1992 NBA All-Star Game, then went for another chip with the Bulls and his second Olympic gold in the Sevens. Accordingly, this is one of the models taking center stage in Jordan Brand’s upcoming celebration of that 20th Oly anniversary. And while models including the ‘Olympic’ and ‘Gold Medal/Golden Moments’ are intimately connected with this theme, the pair pictured above goes in an entirely different direction. Featuring roughly equal amounts of purple and pink hits, this Air Jordan 7 GS might end up with a nickname like ‘Mixed Berry’, its high-energy palette applied in a pattern reminiscent of the blocking employed on last March’s ‘Orion Blue’ AJ7. Let us know what you think of the latest girls Air Jordan 7 when you’re on the other side looking at more images, and stick with Sneaker News for release info. Photos: MarqueeSole

Anything bearing the name of super-skater Eric Koston should be firmly rooted in the Nike SB realm right? Well not exactly, as a handful of sigs are being pulled up from that sub-categorization and wiped of their SB branding, this particular model being one of them. Not that the Nike Zoom Koston 1 needs any fancy logo hits to make it stand out, as in this case a beautifully pure white upper and a classic gum sole do the trick just fine. Click through for the full angles and let us know in the comments how you feel about the reorganizing of the Nike SB range, also make sure to hit up the team at Premier to grab this Nike Zoom Eric Koston now.

Many recent Sneaker News headlines have focused on the various ‘Gold Medal’ and otherwise Olympic Air Jordans set to hit retailers in the coming months, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of other classics on tap for what figures to be the most densely packed summer on record. This Air Jordan 4 Retro hearkens back to the original ‘Fire Red’ edition that was reprised in 2006 with the ‘Mars Blackmon’ face on the heels, but unlike that ’06 Varsity Red edition, these come sans Spike. That seems more than fair given the success of the Son of Mars and Spike Lee’s insane Foamposite PEs, but would the OG shade of red make these more of a lock (especially given the stiff competition)? Let us know when you’re on the other side checking out a new batch of photos, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for the exact release date on this August 2012 drop. Photos: SA
